Rejana: When I began my Tibian life in Rookgaard, a bit more than 5 years ago, I earned my living by killing animals and selling meat to NPCs. So I thought that trading food is a good way to make money. Then when I came to Venore, I was pretty lost at first and after I had bought my first spell, also broke. So I thought: "OK, I need to make money." Since I had no idea where to go, I fished for a while. After I had about 10 fish, I wanted to find out where I could sell it, so I asked in the chat channel: "Where can I sell fish?" - a player messaged me and said: "I buy, how many you got?" - I answered truthfully: "10". He said he would take all, and I was happy to have found a buyer that quickly. Nervously I got ready for the trade. When he saw that I offered 10 single fish, he broke out in loud laughter, just said "noob" and left. I was confused, and didn't understand what happened, so I messaged him again, and asked what I had done wrong. And he said that he had expected that I had 10 BPs of fish, that he had never heard of anybody trying to sell 10 single fish.
Mirade: If I remember correctly, it was back in 2008 when I suddenly felt the need to get a better outfit for my character to make her look more fancy. The jester outfit looked cute and seemed rather easy to get. I started to collect some things for the outfit quest. I had the pretty amount of around 15k sleeping in my bank account - which was quite much for me - so I decided to buy green tunics to trade them for a green piece of cloth since you need one in the quest. But then I thought it might be a good idea to have several green pieces of cloth in store, just in case... At that time 40 green tunics were necessary to get 1 green piece of cloth from Irmana. 10 green pieces of cloth sounded like a decent number so I had to buy 400 green tunics. I withdrew 10k from my bank account, enough money to buy them from Rudolph in Edron. Well, something I had not considered was my capacity. I was around level 22, I think, with a maximum capacity of 820, but it was always pending between 300 and 400 due to my equipment. So I bought 400 green tunics that weighed more than 3000 oz together!!! I was so shocked when I realised that the majority of my green tunics was placed on the square I was standing on, only a few had made it into my backpack... Yeah, what happened then was me running back and forth between Rudolph and the depot in Edron trying to save as many tunics as possible. Of course, there were some players who noticed the pile of tunics, made fun of the situation and spread them all across the shop. In the end, I managed to secure around 250 tunics. Well, at least I proved to be worthy of the jester outfit, I guess Bozo would have laughed himself to tears if he had seen me running to and fro.

Help! It's the Giant Spider! |
Dwimenor 04.02.10 10:33 |
Selection of winners was very difficult. We received 26 applications, of which we wanted to reward more than 20! Unfortunately, we do not have enough prizes for everyone. After long discussions have restricted the number of candidates to .5 Here's how the votes were divided- Sleazy - 9 votes
- Redax - 4 votes
- FinvilGaldabril - 2 votes
- Repens - 1 vote
- Matiseq - 1 vote
Sleazy takes the first place. We liked the comics so much that each voter give him first place. Interesting story, excellent performance.
The prize goes to Faria Dras from game world Hiberna.

Another comics took the second place. It was draw by Redax. It shows very typical situation when a player runs away from giant spider and is blocked by the summoned smaller spider. A big plus for the "IRL" version.
Redax From world Premia gets:

Nad the third place - story written by Finvil Galdabrila. Hero fights Giant Spider and do not die at the end!
As the author didn't tell where to send the prize, the Bronze Goblet will wait for him in our secret warehouse. Finvil Galdabril - please contact us!
There was one more thing that we really liked. Film made by Muhamed Marley wasn't completed so we couldn't award it, but we decided to give 10 reputation points to the author.

Nearly 17.000 account banished due to using unofficial softwere to play |
Dwimenor 21.01.10 17:17 |
"Attention! Attention! King Tibianus the Third, Ruler of the Thais Empire, announces in accordance to the will of the Gods, Durin, Guido and Steve, that citizens listed below are punished with exclusion from the reality for serious crimes against the gods ... " Shoohaby did not heard for what they have been so severely punished, because the excited crowd drowned the king's herald. But he didn't worry about it. Perhaps he isn't a good citizen, but the spies did not personally deal with the gods themselves. Shoohaby only smiled and vanished from the center of Thais. And list of punished citizens was endless...

A couple of days ago, the product managers of Tibia and the managing directors of CipSoft called us community managers to a meeting to announce the latest management decisions concerning our fight against cheating - a topic which has become pretty controversial within the community shortly after the publication of our featured article "Where Will Cheaters Go From Here?" in January 2009. A lot of time has passed since then, but this time has not been wasted.
Until the present day, a huge amount of data about cheaters in Tibia has been collected, analysed, evaluated and reevaluated. Only recently, this whole process has reached a point when sufficient statistical information was accumulated which allowed to draw comprehensive and truly reliable conclusions about the cheating situation, and to plan our next strategic steps. The first steps are taking effect straightaway:
Improved detection
Thanks to the detailed analyses of the past months, the efficiency and power of our automatic detection tool was significantly improved. This enhancement instantly resulted in a remarkable boost of detections: Today, 16,598 Tibia accounts have been excluded from the game for using unofficial software to play during the last couple of weeks.
Permanent final warnings
From now on, there will be permanent punishments for all players who gained permanent advantages through the act of cheating which includes the use of unofficial software to play, account sharing and account trading. As many of you have requested in the past, every single account which is identified for having cheated will now get a permanent final warning that does not vanish any more after 6 months. Also, all accounts which currently have a final warning due to the use of unofficial software to play, account sharing or account trading will not lose this warning either. In case of any further rule violation that would lead to a banishment, accounts with a permanent final warning will be automatically deleted without any prior warning.
These two adjustments of our anti-cheating policy sound the bell for the next round of our fight against cheating. At this point, we would like to thank all of our fair players for your unbelievable amount of patience, your commitment to Tibia and your amazing support during the past months. We owe you a lot.
Play fair everyone!

The UOSU investigation |
Dwimenor 19.01.10 17:23 |
UOSU is a well know software among Tibians. Easy to use and to find. Check out the search engines for the "UOSU" query - most of the links will lead to Tibia fansites. Links to download, links to tutorials, thousands of them. But what if you want to download the original UOSU, from it's creator, to be sure that it's safe and without any additional malware? This is the hard part. All the download links go to some rehosts, rehosts of the rehosts or rehost mirrors or...you get the point. TibiaSpy.com Agency decided to take care of this problem. And here are the results of our investigation.
Firstly we decided to test some of the download links, which can be found on Google. The results were terrifying.
Files where downloaded and checked 08.07.2009
For those who don't know: if two files have the same md5sum it means that those file are the same to the last byte. In this table, files on tibia.pl, tibia.org.pl and tibiopedia.pl are copies of each other.
Very disturbed us is that pages that pretend to be the repositories of the software publish infected files. It wouldn't be strange if this were fake pages hosted only to scam people.
That's why we decided to find the original UOSU package. And it wasn't an easy task. In the documentation you can find this:
http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/
But access to this page is forbidden. Quick Google search and we got 3 addresses:
http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/index.html
http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/indexe.html
http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/uosu/uosu133.zip
But none of them exists. Fortunately web archives exist, so we could use it's resources.
www.archive.org.
After some searching, we got some results. Kmatuoka's page was available till January 2008. It looked like this:
http://web.archive.org/web/200801030....jp/~kmatuoka/
So he changed the server to http://mwc.ne.jp/katuyuki/UOSoft
But it was impossible to get access there. Whois query shows that domain exists

So, back to the web archive:
The only solution is to look into the web archive again.

You can find the link to UOSU 1.6 at the bottom of the site.
Conclusion
In the last few years, UOSU wasn't a dead project. Its developer finished it at version 1.6, while everywhere on the net you can find v1.33. The newest version, besides bugfixes, has an option to do 800x600 thumbnails.
You can download UOSU 1.6 in our download section. |
